Ivan handles both contentions and non-contentious IP, data, technology and cyber matters and transactions, as well as legal issues relating to artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
Most of his clients come from the technology, media, and software industry, but he is just as comfortable advising leading telecoms, automotive, drinks and confectionary companies, and even regulators.
Ivan has advised hundreds of global and local companies, big and small, on various matters related to data protection compliance, buying and selling companies and assets, and some truly interesting cases of IP and information technology law.
When advising clients, Ivan understands that legal aspects are but one of the issues businesses must consider when making decisions and reaching strategic goals, and he believes that the best way to defy client prejudices is to exceed their expectations and create value wherever possible.
As well contributing to books and publications, Ivan is a regular speaker at professional events.

Designed the global AI strategy for a leading global telecoms company.
Advised a large Hungarian company group regarding the design and implementation of an AI management system according to ISO/IEC 42001.
Advised a leading Hungarian university on AI and cybersecurity law compliance.
Advised a big Hungarian company on various IP, technology and data protection issues in a flagship transaction that resulted in the creation of Hungary’s largest IT and telecoms conglomerate.
Assisted a Hungarian regulator and the associations of participating entities with the commercial and data protection aspects of an innovative project, including the establishment of a new database and communication channel based on blockchain/distributed ledger technology.
Represented a client in the automotive sector in legal issues regarding autonomous vehicles, and assisted several employers with the deployment of workforce tools utilising artificial intelligence.
Advised several multinational companies on the management of cyber risks, such as information security and data breaches, including their representation in regulatory investigations and litigation.
Assisted a leading global telecoms company with employment-related data protection matters, including employee monitoring, works council and trade union matters, subject access requests, whistleblowing proceedings, internal investigations, privacy of employees, subject access requests, and digital technologies regulation.

Graduated from the József Attila University School of Law, Szeged in 1999.
Conducted postgraduate studies at the T.M.C. Asser Institute in the Hague in 2001 and at the City University of London in 2002.
Graduated with an LL.M. degree from the Nottingham Law School in 2005 in European Data Protection and Regulatory Law.
Admitted to the Budapest Bar in 2004.

Completed a secondment in the London office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2002 and 2003.
Obtained a second LL.M. degree in Artificial Intelligence and Technology Law from ELTE University in Budapest.
Qualified as an ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Lead Auditor, and became a Bureau Veritas certified AI risk specialist ((ISO/IEC 23894, 31000, 42005) in 2025.
